Matthew Brunke, DVM, DACVSMR, CCRP, CVPP, CVA: I wish there was a straightforward algorithm for this, the honest answer is, is that there's not. It's trial and error. So what goes into that is doing a good assessment. So knowing that it's not just a little off, or maybe moderately off, but putting some numbers on that. So using things like canine brief pain inventory...or the canine osteoarthritis index for the owners to fill out and give us a baseline.
