Try again. As we mentioned earlier, fructosamine concentrations are not very helpful if you are concerned about a Somogyi effect in your patient. Since the episodes of hypoglycemia are often followed by rebound hyperglycemia, the fructosamine concentration will likely be elevated. This may mislead us into thinking our patient needs more insulin when in fact, she may need less.
