Client handout: Helping a pet through chemo at home

Article

Guide veterinary clients through the chemotherapy process using this helpful tool.

The good news? 80% of pets have little to no side effects from chemotherapy treatment. And when side effects do occur, they are often not severe. So, whew. Still, being prepared for any signs of illness or side effects goes a long way to reassuring clients after a cancer diagnosis. Use this handout, developed by oncologist Sue Ettinger, DVM, DACVIM, to help walk clients through how to care for their pet before, during and after chemotherapy. Download it now.

To give your clients some visual reassurance, you can direct them to Dr. Ettinger's YouTube channel where there are videos of chemotherapy being administered to dogs.
