Kuna, Idaho — Estimates of how much revenue the state might receive from a proposed annual fee for veterinary pharmaceutical firms in Idaho could be inflated by as much as double, according to the Idaho Veterinary Medical Association (IVMA), which is taking a neutral stand on the measure.

Denver — The Colorado Veterinary Medical Association (CVMA) met with the state's physical-therapy board to debate formal rules under a new statute that allows licensed therapists to work on animals if a veterinarian approves. Both groups are governed by the Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies, which drafted the rules and will implement them.

A California bill requiring the sterilization of dogs and cats stirred up a hornet?s next of opposition, leaving its chief sponsor to come up with a less-divisive measure next year. Some 20,000 people protested to lawmakers, and the embattled California Veterinary Medical Association, an early co-sponsor, backed away after fielding thousands of complaints.
