Idea Exchange: Catheters facilitate intranasal vaccination in toy breeds
Our practice clientele includes several Chihuahua and Maltese breeders as well as those specializing in other toy breeds. Administering an intranasal Bordetella bronchiseptica vaccine in a 3-week-old toy-breed puppy can be a challenge because its nares are tiny. But if you cut down an 18-ga flexible intravenous catheter to ¼ in and place it on a syringe, you can administer the vaccine more quickly and easily.
