In our boarding facility, we double-leash aggressive, fearful, or unsure dogs to avoid having to reach around their necks to take the lead off. We clip a regular leash to the O-ring of the slip lead—we use a thin cat leash. When the dog is in the kennel, we close the kennel door and gently tug on the regular leash. It will in turn loosen the slip lead from around the neck, which can then be pulled off over the head. Everyone wins: The dog is less stressed, and we remain safe.
