Idea Exchange: It's lights out for the birds

Most domestic birds cannot see well in the dark. So I have found that when I crack the exam room door and turn the lights off, I can catch and restrain a bird for an exam without stressing it, which leads to an easier and more thorough exam. Also, since the bird does not fly around inside or outside the cage, it is less likely to get hurt.
