Many of us have heard the tip about spelling out colors to remember the number of drops needed for in-house tests. For example, various tests need three drops of blood, which is r-e-d. Other tests require four drops of conjugate, which happens to be b-l-u-e in color. Our clinic takes this a step further: The SNAP (IDEXX Laboratories) tests for parvovirus and Giardia species need five drops and require a fecal sample, which is (we hope) b-r-o-w-n.
