After an orthopedic procedure, it is common to have a convalescent period of weeks to months before recovery is attained. Physical rehabilitation may help patients achieve maximum recovery. Physical therapy is also valuable for easing chronic pain in pets.
Though describing a very active house pet, this case represents one possible approach to treating a common condition in many sporting dog breeds, bicipital tendonitis. This case will describe a conservative pre-operative approach to treatment of bicipital tendonitis. In addition, post-operative rehabilitation after biceps tendon release surgery will be discussed.
