Tourniquets quickly secure endotracheal tubes
I use a tourniquet rather than a strip of gauze to secure an endotracheal tube after intubating an animal. I place the tourniquet loop around the tube and then twist it 180 degrees to form a figure eight with the top loop placed around the muzzle, lower jaw, or around the head. As the securing mechanism of the tourniquet is cinched, it tightens around the tube and the patient. It's faster than tying gauze and easier to clean up.
