ClinQuiz: Eye on leptospirosis (Sponsored by Boehringer Ingelheim Vetmedica Inc.) Answer 2B

CUSTOM VETERINARY MEDIA

2 B. — Correct!

It is unlikely that this dog has leptospirosis, as it has been recently vaccinated and so should be protected against infection. The low-positive MAT titers are probably the result of antibody induced by the vaccine and do not indicate true infection. Convalescent titers should be submitted to definitively rule out the possibility of leptospirosis. Further investigation and diagnostic testing to determine the cause of this dog’s polyuria and polydipsia are indicated.
