Idea Exchange: A simple method to keep hair out of open wounds

VETERINARY MEDICINE

Even if you use copious amounts of K-Y Jelly (Johnson & Johnson) on wounds before shaving, an extensive amount of hair can remain in the wound after shaving, wiping, and flushing. To prevent this contamination and cut down on cleaning time, apply K-Y Jelly copiously to the open wound before shaving and after extensively flushing the wound, and then cover it with cling wrap. Tuck the edges of the cling wrap under the edges of the undermined skin. Then apply more K-Y Jelly over the cling wrap, especially at the skin edges. Make sure to dispose of the cling wrap and loose hairs after shaving.
