Client handout: Lower stress for the sick cat
Attendees at a recent conference got the news: If you’re still treating the bladders of feline idiopathic cystitis (FIC) cats with antibiotics and anti-inflammatories alone, then Fetch dvm360 educator Julie Fischer, DVM, DACVIM, says it’s time to get with the program. What these cats need more than anything is MEMO (multimodal environmental modification), more water, and dietary changes. (Read all about Dr. Fischer's session here.)
You can help with the MEMO with a handout like this for clients, which sensitizes pet owners to the stress their recovering cat may be feeling inside the hospital and back at home. And it provides tips on what to do about it—even a tip to take care of themselves too.
