How much should hospitalized patients be fed?

Untitled Document

“Hospitalized veterinary patients should be fed at their calculated resting energy requirements (RER), realizing their actual energy requirement is likely to increase with recovery. Therefore, initially feeding patients at RER, or at least 50 percent of RER, is a rational, safe recommendation that decreases the probability of metabolic and surgical complications.”
