To help professionals better communicate with Spanish-speaking clients, Pennsylvania State University (Penn State) announced it will host an upcoming Penn State Extension workshop series with its first focusing on Spanish-speaking employees and coworkers. The workshop will be held 5 consecutive Thursday afternoons from 3-5 PM, beginning on March 16, 2023, and ending on April 13, 2023, at Penn State Extension’s Lebanon County office, 2120 Cornwall Road, Suite 1, Lebanon.

“Spanish for Poultry Professionals” will teach attendees effective ways to community with Spanish-speaking employees and coworkers covering safety, work duties, biosecurity, and poultry welfare. Each workshop is designed for those with basic to intermediate reading, writing, and speaking Spanish.

According to an organizational release,1 the “Spanish for Poultry Professionals” sessions will cover vocabulary words, communication related to workplace safety, poultry anatomy, poultry management, health and diseases, and more. All participants will create personalized handbooks filled with keywords and phrases as well as break off into groups to practice speaking and how to respond to scenarios that can occur on farms.

Although the program emphasizes the poultry industry, an organizational release from Penn State said veterinary professionals and other agricultural industry professionals will also benefit.

These events are free, but any interested participants must register by 11:59 PM on March 14, 2023.
